Vickie Lin Funk, a longtime resident of Roy, Utah, and beloved family member, passed away peacefully at her home on May 3, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 13, 1947, in Payson, Utah, she was the first child born to Darrell and Betty Wood. She was a kind, loving, and gentle soul who touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Vickie attended the Peteetneet School in Payson and later graduated from Weber High School after her parents moved the family to Ogden. They were living in Roy when she met Stephen, who had recently returned from serving a mission in Mexico. They were married on June 1, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
They started their married life living in Willard and moved many times throughout their marriage. They lived in Alexandria, Virginia; Clearfield, UT; Salt Lake City, UT; Riverdale, UT; Uintah, UT; Roy, UT; Fresno, CA; Los Banos, CA; Pleasant View, UT; and finally West Haven, UT.
Vickie dedicated her life to her family and was most proud of her role as a mother. She was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom when her kids were younger. As her children grew older, she embraced several career opportunities. She worked as a sales representative for Tupperware, a courier during her time in Fresno, California, and finally as a cook at T.H. Bell Jr. High School, where she made many lifelong friends.
An active and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Vickie's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She loved working with children and her sisters in the Relief Society. This dedication was reflected not only in her spiritual commitments but also in the values she instilled in her children and the warmth she brought to her community.
She and Steve loved the 23 months they spent in service of friends in Whitley City, Kentucky, where they were full-time missionaries and loved working with the people in that area.
Vickie's hobbies and interests included quilting, crocheting, playing games with her family and friends, golfing, tennis, and going to the movies. She would stay up late with family and friends playing cards and board games. She made countless quilts for her kids and grandchildren. She also loved to go to dinner and a movie with her friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen; her son, Jim (Krista); her daughter, Kristi Call (Spencer); her son, Matthew (Wendy); and her son, Curtis (Megan). She is also survived by her three younger siblings: Shauna Peterson (Ron), Debbie Funk (Wayne), and Dennis Wood (Teresa). Vickie's legacy will live on through her family, her 16 grandchildren, and her 8 great-grandchildren.
Vickie is preceded in death by her parents, Darrell “Deb” and Betty Wood, and infant granddaughter, Jordyn Funk.
